7 Ways To Sleep Like A Baby

With all the daily hustle and bustle, sometimes it can get really hard to have a good night’s sleep. Undoubtedly, it is hard to clear our mind of all the work that needs to be done, but making small changes to our sleeping environment can actually help us sleep like a baby nonetheless.

1. Use Of Essential Oils

Essential oils have been increasing in demand, and for the right reasons. Besides being a form of natural remedy, they also help you ease into sleep better. If you’re feeling stressed, taking some lavender oil and rubbing them on your temples would help you feel more relaxed. On days where you’re running a flu, drip some peppermint oil on the foot of your soles and rub them together. For those of you with a diffuser in your room, adding a drop of essential oil in would give your room a more relaxed vibe.

2. Fresh & Clean Sheets

Nobody would be able to have a good sleep on a bed that is filled with clutter, and sheets that have not been washed for weeks. Always keep your bed clean, and this also makes sure you’re keeping nasty pests away. You don’t want to be waking up in the middle of the night due to itchy arms and legs because you got bitten by bed bugs!

3. The Right Pillow

Having the right pillow to sleep on has a great impact on how you feel the next day. Your pillow affects your sleeping posture, and the support your neck and head has. You either wake up the next day feeling fresh, or with a nagging stiff neck that would probably last for a few days. Thus, when you do your pillow shopping, always remember it is okay to splurge a little more on one that is suited to your needs. You’re going to be using it everyday anyway.

4. Stay Hydrated

We understand how humid it can get on our sunny island, and most of us sleep with the aircon turned on. Stay hydrated by placing a cup of water or wet towel near your aircon so the air in your room doesn’t become too dry! This is especially useful for those of you who tend to wake up with a dry throat after a night’s sleep in aircon.

5. Good Curtains

Our body is very sensitive to sunlight, since it is after all, what sets our natural body clock. If you’re looking to sleep in on a weekend, have curtains that can block out all sunlight so you don’t wake up once the light shines on your face. That way, you get to sleep through better.

6. Warm Night Light

Most of us use our phone before we sleep, and while that is not the best habit, we know it can be difficult to stop. Lower your phone brightness, and turn on a warm night light or bed light in your room! If you do not have one installed, a candle would do the trick too. This way the environment you’re sends signals to your brain that it is night time, and prepares your body to ease into sleep.

7. Warm Drink To Get Snuggly

The common advice to take a warm drink before sleeping is not a myth. It really warms your body and prepares you for a snuggly night. Some warm water would do the trick, you don’t necessarily need to drink anything fancy – although chamomile tea does help you relax too! Regardless of what you choose to drink, drink in small amounts, or you’re going to have to drag yourself out of bed for a trip to the bathroom.

These are very small improvements you can make to your sleeping environment, and we’re sure they would help you get a better sleep! Go on and give it a try, and let us know if it works for you.
