1. Coconut water
On a scorching sunny day, all we usually crave for is something cold and refreshing. If you want the best of both worlds, get some coconut water. Coconut water is rich in minerals and vitamins which are crucial in cooling down the body.
Coconut water is also a natural isotonic beverage, making it a seamless way to rehydrate, recharge our bodies electrolytes and replace fluid loss from the gastrointestinal tract. 2. Cool shower
Taking a cool shower on a hot day may seem like a no-brainer, however, some still disregard this hack. Having cold water applied on points on the body where the veins are close to the surface such as the wrists, neck, chest, and temples can quickly lower the temperature of the blood running through these veins.
An alternative to taking a cool shower is taking a quick dip in a pool or placing your feet in a cold foot bath. Sit back and relax while immersing your feet in a bucket of cold water and some ice and soak for roughly 20 minutes.
3. Drink more liquids
This is a pretty obvious one but take it as a reminder. Drinking liquids, such as water can cool the body internally which helps reduce body temperature. Remember to drink up regularly to prevent dehydration, which can increase body heat.
Consuming foods with high water content such as watermelon, strawberries and cucumber are good options to keep you cool as well. You can always mix them up and enjoy a cold refreshing smoothie which is both healthy and hydrating.
4. Avoid caffeine
The myth of caffeinated drinks increases the risk of dehydration has been proven otherwise. However, this only applies to those who consume caffeinated drinks regularly.
Caffeinated drinks have a more significant effect on non-caffeine drinkers, especially on a hot day. It is totally fine to consume caffeinated drinks on a hot day but it’s recommended to avoid drinking so much.
5. Switch on your AC
After drying off from your cool shower, why not turn on the AC and enjoy the cool air around your space. You can reduce your body temperature by relocating to an area with a cooler external temperature which in this case is in an airconditioned room.
Do note that you should wipe off all water droplets or sweat on your body before going into an airconditioned room to avoid catching a cold.
